"Connecting is in our DNA"
This week I had the amazing opportunity of creating and displaying my first large custom piece at the new partner centre in the Facebook Dublin HQ in Grand Canal Dock. As the newly renovated 6th floor was being officially re-opened, the team wanted to do a special activation to get people involved and interacting with the concept behind this new space: "connectivity".
We designed a drop in keyring workshop that would take no more than 10 min to complete, so staff members were able to participate in the activation during lunch time. In addition to the workshop, the idea was to create a backdrop to represent the concept of connectivity and how everything is tied together. That is how I came up with the concept of "connecting is in our DNA" represented by a 1.20 by 1.70m macramé piece made with about 800 metres of black tea + iron natural dyed rope using the twisted knot as the predominant shape of the piece.
The best part is that this bespoke piece will remain permanently displayed on the 6th floor of the building beside other artist's pieces...Pinch me!
