I've made a basket!
I saw this basket in a bigger size in one of my DIY books a good while ago, as I wasn't really sure what I was doing I decided to go for a smaller size and give it a try. I don't know you, but when I'm learning how to make these type of things from a book, looking at the pictures is always easier for me, that is why I decided to share this step by step by using mostly images.
The rope I used is 4mm recycled cotton rope, the same one I use for my macramé. You can try with anything you have at home, just keep in mind that the measurements may change.
You will need:
- 12 strings of 50cm/20in each for the core of the basket.
- 10m/32ft of rope to weave, folded in half and winded into a skein.
To start, build the core of the basket with the 12 strings as shown in step 2.
Before you start weaving the weft, fold the 10 metres of rope in half, wind it in a skein and tie it with a little piece of rope so it doesn't get tangled and is easier for you to weave.
Enjoy your basket!
